Aikido is a powerful method of self protection that can be studied by men and women of all ages, and is widely taught to the police and armed forces across the world. It is based on turning and spinning movements which seek to redirect the force of the attack into the ground or back through the attacker, culminating in an immobilization or projection.
The art of Aikido is unique in the martial world as it is not only a purely defensive art, but also aims to cause no serious injury to the attacker, whilst maintaining the safety of the defender. It is this moral approach that has been the identifying characteristic of Aikido as it has spread throughout the world.

Yoga For Athletes
Yoga for Athletes is a holistic class designed to improve flexibility, balance, core strength, & muscle recovery. Working with a sequential order of poses and the use of props, this class focuses on the specific challenges facing endurance athletes. Runners tend to have tight hamstrings; cyclists often have tight quadriceps; swimmers may have aching shoulders; and tennis players may have more freedom of rotation in one direction than the other.
Each class starts with a slow warm-up to work pliability into the tissues and wake up the core; then proceeds to moderate heat-building poses in order prime the body—especially the hips and hamstrings—for the flexibility work to follow; and concludes with a series of “yin” postures which strengthen, elongate, and rebuild connective tissue and fascia.
The practice of the physical poses (asanas) coupled with focus on the breath (pranayama) teaches the practitioner how to integrate the body, the breath, and the mind in order to stay focused and calm even in the face of intensity— be it pre-race training, marathon/triathalon, or in the workplace.
This style of yoga is characterized by a focus on vinyasa, or a dynamic connecting posture, that creates a flow between the more static traditional yoga postures. The whole practice is defined by six specific series of postures, always done in the same order, combined with specific breathing patterns (ujjayi breathing).
The purpose of vinyasa is to create heat in the body, which leads to purification of the body through increased circulation and sweating. It also improves flexibility, as well as tendon and hard tissue strength, allowing the student to practice advanced asanas with reduced risk of injury. Expect movements to include strengthening and balance postures in addition to stretching.
Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga is a dynamic system of yoga that leads its practitioners to achieve higher levels of flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular fitness. Ashtanga yoga synchronizes the breath with a progressive series of postures (asanas) & places attention on the journey between the postures (vinyasa) not just the postures themselves. The vinyasa element of the practice produces an intense internal heat and a purifying sweat that detoxifies the muscles and organs. Within the practice, the asana & vinyasa are deepened by the use of breath control (ujjayi pranayama) & a targeted gaze (drishti).
The deep, rhythmic breathing technique (ujjayi pranayama) increases lung capacity, oxygenates the blood, and stills the mind. The targeted gaze (drishti) aligns the spine correctly and eliminates distractions increasing the ability of the mind to concentrate.
Ashtanga is the system of yoga that developed the Vinyasa style from which “power yoga,” “vinyasa flow,” and “flow yoga” came about. It is commonly known as the most disciplined and physically challenging form of yoga.
Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic workout system that will blow you away. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and resistance training are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got ZUMBA!
